Broken Bodies

Just before the really end of the semester, I found the book of ancient sculptures. A lot of those are broken because of its decay. The sculptures which were used to be in a shape of human figures turned to be in an interesting abstract forms which still could be visualized the previous forms.

I also found some artists works which I think could relate to what I'm working on. The first one was the concrete sculptures by Jean Arp.

The other one was Bruce Nauman's 'From hand to mouth'.

These references lead me experimenting capturing the part of the body in term of reducing forms.

    Hi Nooknik

I like the direction you're suggesting with the fragmented body. This clears up a lot of the confusion, doesn't it? There's a lot you do with this. I don't want you to get bogged down in theory, but you could look up 'informe' on the internet. Think also about using photogrpahy to generate ideas. Or while you're waiting to come back to the faculty, you could work with cut up found photos, from magazines, etc. Look up Hanna Hoch. She was a surrealist collage artist. Some of her work might relate.

Lastly, what about Bas? If he's not keen on blogging - I can sympathize with that! - ask him to email me.

  2. Actually I have some more works with collage and experiment with copy machine Aj.Mike. I'm just still try writing some words related to them. I'm going to post them up in this few days.

I just met Bas today, he's just came back from his home and didn't use facebook connection for a while so he's just know about this. I told him about the blog already, maybe in this few days he's going to make one.
